I am currently considering buying a 57 plate cooper convertible having been a golf gt tdi driver for many years. I am concerned about fuel economy though having been used to the best part of 60 mpg. I have been told the mini I'm looking at returns about 50 mpg on the combined - can you tell me if this is realistic??

Please help - desperately want to buy it but need to be a little bit practical.
Going tomorrow so early responses very welcome.

Welcome to the mini-diddlers.

We have a 58 plate Cooper and are averaging 42mpg, as the convertable is slightly heavier (I think) I would think 50 mpg is unrealistic.
